The Great Blue Heron is the bird represented in our logo. This bird is considered king/queen of the marsh and is the largest animal/bird on the food chain of a river. If the heron is healthy, it follows the river it thrives on is also healthy. We symbolize the bird poised in flight after having just taken off to suggest motion and movement towards the future. The heron is silhouetted against the rising sun, again indicating new beginnings, full of majesty and hope.
The heron has a good deal of interesting lore surrounding it, and while it is not essential to mention all of the characteristics, the bird is at home in the water, on the land and in the air. The heron is a very versatile and adaptable creature. It is resourceful, and able to react quickly and seize opportunities. It is able to maneuver with ease and strength.
The "Royal River" was chosen because it is a watershed for many of the communities the store serves. The river touches land that extends beyond the boundaries of town limits, representing our endeavors beyond the so-called "mainstream path" to follow and promote complementary approaches to health and healing.
